Overview:
This position is responsible for the day to day and continuous improvement of the North American import and export logistics operations which includes leading logistics personnel, budgeting, forecasting, cost control and variance analysis, trade compliance, distribution requirements planning, and managing relationships with international logistics service providers and other Sappi functions both domestically and globally. This position is directly accountable for the quality of the customer experience provided by logistics for imports into and exports out of North America for all business segments and is responsible for being able to clearly communicate performance to designated areas of the organization. The position works across organization and global boundaries, with sales, marketing, operations, and logistics personnel to better understand the needs of the business and to establish innovative programs to better serve the interests of the customer and Sappi.

Drive a culture of zero injuries by ensuring all personnel work in a safe environment
Lead and develop personnel in performing day-to-day multi-modal international logistics operations.
Create innovative ways to leverage technology and streamline operations and costs while maintaining a superior customer experience.
Lead the order fulfillment process through final delivery for North American imports and exports in accordance with designated Incoterms®.
Build and cultivates third party relationships with international logistics suppliers while staying up-to-date on the global logistics landscape.
Create teams that analyze strategic and tactical processes and costs, develops action plans to mitigate risk and impact, executes the plan, and measures performance.
Generate innovative programs that ensure continuous process improvement and high quality services.
Communicate operation performance across organizational boundaries.
Responsible for generating the budget/forecasts and the subsequent operations and financial analysis to highlight and communicate variances from plan.
Negotiate contracts with shipping lines, logistics providers, warehouse providers, freight forwarders, and Customs Brokers for services.
Ensure understanding and organizational compliance with all legal requirements, trade regulations, customs requirements, sanctions, documentation, forestry certification and Sappi’s Code of Ethics
Ensure that all freight payment accounts are in compliance with contracted rates and terms and are current in good standing
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Logistics, Business Studies or equivalent job related experience (work experience considered in lieu of)
Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering preferred
Minimum Years of Experience:
5-10 Years of experience with 3 years of Supervisory experience in a related field
Special Skills including license certification preferred but not required
Industry recognized (ASCM) certification in Transportation or Supply Chain
Licensure as a Customs Broker
