Located on the banks of the St Louis River since 1898, our integrated pulp and paper mill in Cloquet, Minnesota is one of the most modern and sustainable pulp mills operating in North America. Although the mill began by making newsprint it evolved into coated, fine paper and today is a leading producer of dissolving pulp. The one constant has been the relentless pursuit of smarter, more sustainable solutions with wood fiber. Today, we use every part of the tree to make every day more sustainable.

About the Cloquet Mill
The Cloquet Mill offers sustainable solutions for premium graphic papers and dissolving pulp. Our papers are used in corporate reports, advertising brochures, direct mail, labels, point-of-purchase displays and more. Dissolving pulp is where forests and chemistry meet at Sappi, using the cellulose in woodfiber to create everyday products from textiles to health and beauty solutions.
The textile industry is our largest customer base for Verve, converting it through the value chain to yarn and ultimately textiles that provide soft, breathable fabrics which hold color well and drape beautifully. It is also used in diverse household, industrial and pharmaceutical applications including tablets, acetates, washing sponges and non-wovens.
Growth from deep roots
The Cloquet Mill’s roots in Minnesota run deep. For over 100 years it has provided generations of families with employment and supported the surrounding community. The breakthroughs that have emerged in its halls and labs have helped to unlock solutions to real-world challenges in the forest products industry time and again. Sappi is proud to be part of this legacy since 2002 and to shape its future towards ever greater planet-positive impact.
