Division:
The Energy Sourcing department is part of Sappi’s Raw Material & Energy segment, and reports to the VP supply chain.

 

Our team drives Sappi’s strategic procurement efforts within energy in close collaboration with other Sappi departments. We negotiate and manage energy supply contracts for all Sappi mills and projects in Europe with the aim of securing cost-effective and reliable supplies whilst leveraging market opportunities. The products within our responsibility include natural gas, electricity, coal, renewable PPAs, European carbon, Biomass..etc.

 

We are looking for a dynamic individual with a passion for energy to join Sappi Europe’s Energy Sourcing Team.

 

Role & responsibilities:
In this role, you will focus to support and execute Sappi Europe’s Energy sourcing portfolio. You will comply with our Enterprise Risk Management practices.

 

To do so, you will

  • Develop , structure , and negotiate energy supply contracts.
  • Build strong relations with suppliers , expert companies and internal stakeholders to develop opportunities and ideas.
  • Take care of day-to-day administrative issue related to the contractual portfolio
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and certification requirements
  • Supporting, co-developing and rolling out the strategy for Sappi Europe’s Energy sourcing
  • Reduce Total Cost of Ownership and maximize Continuous Improvement savings
  • Map out and implement efficient and effective processes, policies and procedures
  • Strive for Best-in-Class overall commercial and risk mitigation solutions
  • Explore alternative products, sourcing markets and/or commercial concepts
  • Maximize leverage via participation in cross-functional Sappi teams and platforms as well as the external Alliance
  • Co-develop and provide price budgets, forecasts, latest-view outlooks and predictive models
  • Be responsible for supporting the Purchasing Raw Materials & Energy Team

 

Required qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree, preferably in economic, business, engineering , law or related disciplines
  • More than 5 years of professional experience in energy procurement , ideally in an international commercial business environment
  • You have Knowledge of renewable technology
  • You have proven track record of complex commercial deal making from deal identification through to delivery.
  • You can manage multiple simultaneous sourcing projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management
  • You have resilience to reassess ideas to solve problems and deal with complex situations
  • You have strong analytical skills and a structured way of working.
  • You are driving for improvements and embracing changes
  • You are collaborative individual with high business ethics, willing to cooperate with internal and external stakeholders
  • You know MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, …) very well and have good knowledge of SAP
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is a requirement. Other languages e.g. Dutch, German, French is a plus
